    1. a hot towel, dressing, or the like, applied to the body to reduce swelling, relieve pain, etc.
    2. FoodAlso called hot pack′ meth′od. a method of canning food by cooking it and packing it while hot in jars or cans, then sterilizing in boiling water or steam. Cf. cold pack.
